What is the point of High-End Preamplifier?

Hello everyone,,

I mean preamps like those made by Mark Levinson and Pass Labs can go up to $10,000.

I am currently running through a cheap preamp Mcintosh C31V which is only $600 used.

I just wonder what high-end preamp can do or do better that my preamp can't, except phono stage.
